Woogaroo group to protest at MP’s office
1 min read
SUPPORTERS of the Save Woogaroo Forest Group will today (Wednesday) hold a lunchtime protest outside the office of Federal Member for Oxley Milton Dick.
Residents are welcome to join the demonstration against the continuing deletion of Ipswich’s diminishing bushland.
The rally will take place from 12pm-1pm at 205 Government Road, Richlands.
The Springview Villages 2 and 3 Precinct Plan application was lodged by developers Stockland in June 2023 for land at 7001 Mur Boulevard, 7006 Panorama Drive and 1 Telopea Way, Springfield.
Stockland wants to build 1,800 dwellings on the land even though the environmental green lung is home to flora and fauna with vulnerable, endangered and threatened status.
Ipswich City Council planners are now in the final stages of rubber stamping the area development plan and requests to amend subdivision at Village 3.
This is expected to be waived through on April 4 before approvals for operational works begin.
The final decision on whether the bushland and its animals are scrubbed from the face of Ipswich forever now hangs with the Federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC).
