A horror crash unfolded in Ipswich after an allegedly stolen car, containing five teens, lost control and rolled on Sunday morning.
All five teenagers were under the ages of 16, with two still fighting for life in hospital.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the black SUV wagon lost control on a dirt road on Chum St in New Chum, just after 2am.
“The vehicle was allegedly stolen from an Oxley address overnight,” she said.
“Forensic Crash Unit and detectives from the Child Protection Investigation Unit and the Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating.”.
Queensland Ambulance medical director, Dr Stephen Rashford, said ‘numerous’ of the vehicle occupants had been ejected from the vehicle.
“Five patients were treated on scene, all aged 16 years and younger,” he said.
“Two patients were critically ill and three patients suffered serious injuries.
“All patients were transported to Brisbane major trauma units, including the Queensland Children’s Hospital.”
Dr Rashford said significant resources were sent to the scene on a night that was already demanding on the Queensland Ambulance Service.
“This case consumed significant resources to treat the patients on what was already a very busy night for QAS across south east Queensland,” he said.
“Responding we had an ambulance supervisor, ambulance doctor, and many critical care paramedics and advance care paramedics.”
