Supercars leaders backed for Qld Raceway showdown
2 min read

SUPERCARS Championship front runners Broc Feeney and Will Brown received a massive boost for this weekend’s series return to Ipswich.

Feeney, leading the way with 1759 points, and Brown (1539) gained three-year contract extensions with Triple Eight Race Engineering (also known as Red Bull Ampol Racing).

Both elite drivers are now contracted through to 2029, a major decision in Supercars racing.

Toowoomba-based Brown won last year’s championship in historic fashion, finishing on the podium at every event.

Carrara-bred  Feeney leads this year’s championship on the back of an incredible 10 wins from 22 races.

“For me, there was no other place that I'd rather be here in Australia,” number 88 Chevrolet Camaro driver Feeney said.

“I've always loved being with Triple Eight here so it's awesome to already be renewing for the future.

“Will and I get along pretty well and work together well.

“I think it's really good for the team and really good for the future, locking in younger guys that can stick around for a long time. It's exciting.”

Brown, racing his number one Chevrolet Camaro, agreed.

“I had another year on my contract but I think it's cool after winning the Championship last year that the team has come to us and wanted to re-sign us sooner than later to lock us down,” Brown said.

“I'm very happy here. The team does such a fantastic job.

“For me it's about having a competitive teammate, which I absolutely do have this year.”

Supercars action makes a long-awaited return to Queensland Raceway this weekend with the Century Batteries Ipswich Super440.

Ipswich last hosted a round in 2019.

In his two seasons with Triple Eight, Brown has started in 45 Supercars races, winning six and finishing on the podium 28 times.

Feeney, leading the Supercars Sprint Cup heading into the final round at Queensland Raceway, has been driving with the Red Bull Ampol Racing team since entering Supercars full-time in 2022 as a 19-year-old.

Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kostecki was also eager to make an impression this weekend at the Willowbank circuit.

After his high-profile team swap, Kostecki finally broke through for his first win with Ford powerhouse Dick Johnson Racing at the Townsville 500 in mid-July.

After an up and down first half of the 2025 season, the 27-year-old formerly from Perth is running sixth in the championship.

Kostecki is among more than a dozen drivers who have never raced a Supercar at Queensland Raceway.

This weekend’s racing is the eighth and final round of the Repco Sprint Cup series.

At the end of the Ipswich event, the championship leader will be awarded  automatic entry into the inaugural Supercars Finals series, which is being launched at the Gold Coast 500 in October.

On-track action at Queensland Raceway starts on Friday, with two 120km Supercars on Saturday and a 200km race on Sunday.
