LETTERS: Development approvals stink
1 min read

EVENTUALLY a response to your front page article "Compost Dump Approved", (Ipswich Tribune, August 6, P1) – “Our” council's approval of another compost dump to be added to the stench of the Nugrow one, 1.7km from homes! Nice move council – Now we have a “stench forum” happening on September 17 – some would say a month too late – for community input.

Hands up councillors living within a faint whiff of these repulsive dumps. Remember the odour line. Got them out the first day of their operation. Nothing happened, even though Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum made some perfunctory, inconsequential remarks, never followed up.

We could smell Nugrow 12km away. Now council are allowing an intolerable and unconscionable increase in the stench.

It is noted by Greens spokesperson Danielle Mutton that Mr McCallum just turns up for photo opportunities. With such a hefty majority of 21.6 percent he doesn’t have to fear any voter backlash. Similarly Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard with a majority of 10.9 percent hasn’t really been sighted in respect of anything Deebing Creek, except a disparaging remark about locals.

And so to George Cheihk , developer and tree-dozer.

But don’t worry, the State Government DES is investigating all things Deebing Creek.

Their Regional Plan for the development of Southeast Queensland 2017 is happening in front of your eyes.
