THIS year’s Rosewood Show brings more free entertainment to families than ever before.
The role of Show Secretary is relatively new for Fiorella Miles and this is her first show in that capacity.
“We have a lot of new big entertainment,” she said.
“There’s a circus and a whipcracker who will rove around,” she said.
“He’ll be teaching people how to crack a whip, too.”
Room has been made to accommodate more market stalls.
“There’s all kinds of stalls from food vendors to jewellery and country clothing,” Fiorella said.
“I think it’s bigger than ever. I haven’t been here that long but it is quite big this year.”
When Fiorella accepted the position she had no experience running an agricultural show.
She was offered the position because she had experience running other events and Show Society President Paddy Lenihan thought she was right for the job.
“Since I was given the position, I’ve been putting hours into wrapping my head around understanding what a steward is and things like insurances and licences for stall holders,” she said.
“I am a very organised person so I like to dot my ‘i’s’ and cross my ‘t’s’, it’s a big job but I love the position.”
Families are a major focus when planning show days.
“Once they come through the gates there will be a lot of free entertainment to keep the kids busy,” she said.
“People are struggling so we want to make the day as stress free as possible when it comes to cost.”
New on the free list is Brophys Circus, a big top feature with aerialists and clowns.
“There will also be a colouring in station for children and plenty of events that include interaction.”
The Rosewood Show is on Friday June 27 and Saturday June 28.
