MORE than $90,000 is available through the council for not-for-profit organisations.

The Councillor Discretionary Fund is open to community, sporting groups, and school Parents and Citizen groups.

“As we are preparing to enter the financial year for 2025-2026, funding opportunities are upon the horizon so keep an eye out for open and closing dates,” Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said.

More than $122,000 was provided to groups in the last round, including $12,614 to the Marburg Mt Crosby Thunder Cricket Club, $15,000 to the Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway and $5,000 to the Rosewood Agricultural and Horticultural Society.

And the North Ipswich Bowls Club recently added retractable sunshades and seating for bowlers, made possible through a previous round of Community Projects Funding of $14,400.

“Grassroot organisations are at the heart of Ipswich, so it was great to support this project for the bowls club members,” Cr Harding said.

North Ipswich Bowls Club Secretary Vicki Cameron said the upgrades made a huge difference to their game and were timed perfectly for the club’s 70th birthday celebration.

“Play was possible in an east west direction because of the Ipswich City Council’s Community grant which contributed to the purchase of additional shades and seating,” Ms Cameron said.

Current funding applications close on June 1.
