Changes proposed for Rosewood shopping centre
1 min read

FIVE years ago, the owners of the Rosewood Village Shopping Centre in John Street won approval to extend the operations on the land at the corner of John and William Streets.

The approval included nine specialty shops and the existing supermarket as well as 118 carparks on completion of the changes.

But this month, Powercat Developments, have applied to the Ipswich City Council to make changes to the original approval.

The changes are proposed over two stages and involve shop 8 and shop 9.

Those two shops, under the approved 2019 application, were to be located on the southern side of the supermarket building and were to 'share' the exterior wall of the supermarket.

Now the developer hopes to gain approval to construct Shop 8 at the rear of the supermarket in Stage 1. Also, as part of that Stage, the carpark will be configured for a total of 105 vehicle spaces.

In Stage 2, the developer is proposing to demolish the house at the corner of William and Albert Streets to make way for the construction of Shop 9. Also, as part of Stage 2, an additional 13 vehicle spaces would be added to the carpark.

The application is currently under review by the Council's town planners.
