WENDY Bourne, State Member for Ipswich West, joined residents at her mobile office in Rosewood recently to launch two petitions aimed at improving community facilities.
The first petition calls for the Rosewood Aquatic Centre to remain open year-round. The pool currently closes from April to September due to inadequate heating.
Ms Bourne said keeping the facility open would ensure residents have ongoing access to recreation, exercise, and swimming lessons.
The second petition urges Ipswich City Council and the Queensland Government to upgrade plumbing and changeroom facilities at the Thagoona football fields.
Ms Bourne said the existing facilities did not meet the needs of local athletes or the growing community.
Residents attending the mobile office expressed strong support, with both petitions now collecting more than 50 signatures, including online e-signatures.
Copies of the petitions are available at Ms Bourne’s electorate office, on her website, and via her social media pages.
The petitions will remain open over the coming weeks.
