Ashwell’s adopted cop and friend make a lasting impression
1 min read

SENIOR Constable Isaac Collihole is Ashwell State School’s Adopt-a-Cop and he brought a special guest with him on a visit with the students, late last week.

The guest was Acting Sergeant Ben Bassingthwaighte from the Mounted Police, who, with his horses, Stormy and Alfie, demonstrated the skills necessary to be a member of that section of the police force.

In fact, both policemen impressed the 54 students enormously, according to Principal Alison Seppanen.

Sen Const Collihole is based with the Rosewood Police.

“He let the children sit in the back of the police car, hear the sirens and watch the flashing lights. And he explained his role as an Adopt-a-Cop,” Ms Seppanen said.

“Ben explained all the equipment carried by Stormy and Alfie as well as displaying their expertise on some demonstration runs.

“The kids loved it. They were really engaged and asked lots of questions.

“It was a wonderful day.”

Ms Seppanen transferred from Thornton to take up the role as Ashwell Principal at the beginning of the year.
