Crime: attempted murder charge, mall stabbing
Attempted murder
A MALE pedestrian has been left fighting for his life and another man is in custody after a hit and run in Ipswich last Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened on Fernvale Road, Brassall, just before 1pm.
Queensland Ambulance said a man in his 30s was left with a significant head injury and taken to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Police have alleged a car left the scene after hitting the pedestrian.
The Mitsubishi Outlander was found nearby – parked in a garage at Caribou Drive with a cracked windscreen.
A man was taken into custody following the incident.
Police are not looking for anyone else regarding the investigation.
A 26-year-old Brassall man has been charged with one count of attempted murder and was due before Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 10.
 
Shopping centre stabbing
A 57-year-old Ripley man was stabbed in the stomach in an altercation at Orion Springfield Central in Ipswich about 4.30pm on Saturday.
He was taken to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
A 23-year-old man was found at a Springfield Lakes residence a short time later.
He was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding and was due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
