Ipswich childcare proposal to face independent review

Ipswich City Council’s Independent Decision Review Panel (IDRP) will assess a Karalee childcare centre development application after community members expressed major concerns.

Developer Griffith Group submitted the application for the Arthur Summervilles Road childcare centre in March.

It was originally proposed as a two-storey centre with 29 car parks but the developers have since scaled it back to a lowset centre with 25 car spaces. 

The centre, across the road from Karalee State School is set to care for more than 100 children, spurring complaints from residents who were concerned about the traffic congestion it would bring to the street.

Close to 1,000 residents signed an online petition and more than 480 submis
