THE wet weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of teams playing in the latest round of Ipswich Hockey matches.
Games on a rainy Friday night were completed before the scheduled matches on Saturday and Sunday were also played as wet weather threatened at the Raceview venue.
Ipswich’s recently upgraded world-class surface handled the extra water brilliantly.
“The main field drains much better than the older one,” long-serving official Margret Mantell said.
Meanwhile, Ipswich representative players are preparing for a number of state tournaments.
The first is the Queensland Women’s State Championships at Maryborough from April 19-21.
The Queensland Under-18 Championships for men (Rockhampton) and women {Gold Coast} follow from April 25-28.
The annual Queensland Open championships for men and women are at the State Hockey Centre from May 3-6.
The Queensland Men’s Masters State Championships are in Townsville the same long weekend.
