Kirsty, Michelle and Kirsten sharing their messages about HOME at the Booval Fair Gallery.
AS PART of the Artsconnect Community Gallery in Booval Fair commitment to community we have on display the vibrant community artwork that was recently the centre piece of Ipswich’s National Homelessness week.
This display invites people to pause, reflect and share what ‘Home’ means to them.
This project was co-ordinated by the Ipswich Housing and Homelessness Network, which is a collaboration of more than 50 local community service representatives.
The purpose of this display is to raise awareness and start conversations about the rising number of homeless people in our community.
“This artwork is more than just a canvas,” said Hannah’s House director Hayley Dunikowski.
“It’s about giving the community a voice, highlighting that for many people, home is fragile or out of reach.”
This artwork project formed part of the National Homelessness Week display from August 4-10.
During that week the artwork was displayed in cafes, the Nicholas Street Precinct, schools, Ipswich City Council and the Rotary Club of Ipswich City School Lunch Program.
The messages on the artwork are heartfelt and powerful and talk of safety, love, respect, belonging and security.
We have added a new canvas so more messages can be recorded.
We invite you to come to the Artsconnect Gallery in Booval Fair and reflect for a moment what HOME means to you and add your message on the canvas.
The artwork will be on display for a month.
